Build your castle, raise your army, rule your kingdom

You start from scratch, a bare king with nothing but a crown, and grow fief by fief into a lord and one day a king. Bareking is a multiplayer strategy and role-playing game set in a single open world, played in your browser. You share the map with real players and with computer-controlled riders that never attack you, and the world keeps running after you log off.

No download, no install. Works on desktop and phone.

What's in the game

Open world and castles

You place your castle wherever you like on the map. You control your own character and move across the map with your army wherever you want. The world grows with the player count, and attacks are forbidden on the bank grounds at the centre.

Production and fiefs

You produce wood, food, iron and gold, upgrade eight buildings, forge equipment in the workshop and raise horses in the stable. A fief multiplies your output.

Army and war

You train eight units, from marauders to horsemen; bad weather favours light units and good weather heavy ones. Field battles resolve on a five-second countdown; castle sieges take thirty seconds.

Kingdoms and diplomacy

Found your own kingdom, become king, declare war or buy peace with tribute. Castles you conquer earn the kingdom a steady income.

Market and bank

No NPC traders: prices come from players' own orders. The bank at the centre takes gold deposits and hands out loans.

Squads, chat, voice

Form a squad of up to eight and fight as one army. There is world chat, private messages, a friend list and push-to-talk voice chat with players nearby and your squad.

Start from scratch in three steps

  1. Pick a name and a password — we don't ask for an email address.
  2. Find a spot outside the bank grounds and build your castle.
  3. Start production, raise an army, then deal with your neighbours or fight them.

Bareking is for ages 13 and over. The game has chat and voice chat.
